Before You Begin

You need to check the current version of the software that you have installed. In addition, you will need to verify the status of your database. Each release of the program is designed to work with a specific database configuration. To check both of these conditions, login into the accounting software then click on the Help button on the main menu bar at the top of your screen then chose the About option on the drop down menu that appears.

Download The Upgrade

Make a note of the compiled date and specific database configuration of your installed programs then exit the software. Click on the Get the Current Upgrade! link to the left. When the Download window appears click on the Open button. The upgrade file is about 12MB so allow for enough time for the download process to complete. Different versions of windows will have different configurations for the Download window. Our goal here is not to save the file to disk but to run it over the internet. The file has been checked for viruses so your computer system should be fine. If you have a multiple user system, you will have to download the upgrade on each computer.

This Is A Self Extracting Zip File

When the download completes the file will automatically execute and you will see the self extracting zip file screen. The one thing to watch out for on this screen is the drive letter that the upgrade will be installed to. On some windows computers the Program Files subdirectory is not located on the C drive but some other drive such as D or F. If that is the case on your computer, simply change the drive letter located at the beginning of the “Unzip to folder” prompt. Our download assumes that your programs are located on your C drive.

When Your Ready, Click The Unzip Button

The files will be transferred to the Bcc Accounting Programs subdirectory on your computer and will replace the program files that are located there. If you want to make copies of the old programs before you begin, simply copy the entire Bcc Accounting Programs subdirectory to safe area like a CDROM. In addition to the program being delivered, all changes to the database are loaded into a subdirectory called DBCHANGE also located in the Bcc Accounting Programs area. When the unzip completes your programs have been upgraded. Using the instructions above, check the compiled date and make sure that you see Compiled May-31-2010 in the About window.

Updating Your Database

Next step in the upgrade process is updating your database. To do this log on to the Bcc Accounting Programs, click on the Help button on the main menu bar then About then Database. Once you have the Database Changes Applied window up click on the Update button. The program should locate the DBCHANGE subdirectory and present you with a verification screen.
